whistler!

a bunch of us went up to Whistler early saturday morning. we got up at 5am, left the house by 6:30am, picked up DL, and arrived in beautiful white Whistler close to 9am. we had a windstorm the night before, breaking trees and tossing them all over the roads. Lionsgate was closed down so we had to trek back into Burnaby and head to Second Narrows in order to cross.

i had a full-day Supergroup lesson which was AWESOME! Alison was my instructor. we only had 2 students in the class, me and Yin, from Malaysia, so it was more of a semi-private lesson :) there was just SO MUCH snow! it was really great! all that powder on the green run :) i fell quite a bit but it hardly hurt because of all that soft snow :) we worked on linking turns and a bit of the skills in level 3. i've only had 1 lesson before this one at Cypress. it was a private half-day lesson and i haven't gone riding since then, so i was REALLY rusty.

but when i got going, it was amazing... i guess it also helps to have boots that actually fit!

so after a full day of riding, the group of us met up and had dinner at Teppan Village -- which, to be honest, was a total rip-off. a lesson you learn from living in Japan for awhile -- never go for teppanyaki at a restaurant EVER unless you want to be robbed in broad daylight. but of course, i didn't choose the restaurant nor make the reservation, so i had no reason to say anything.

i was really tired by the time we finished dinner. i got a soothing Chai Latte from Starbucks, and then headed back to the hotel to konk out :b unfortunately for me, i don't usually sleep well in hotel beds, so my sleep wasn't deep enough...

the next morning, we met up again. i really wanted to ride again, but the rest of them were too tired :( so we went for a huge brunch (yum yum waffles), and spent the next few hours just walking around and doing some shopping. i bought a Lacoste sweater and a Penguin polo shirt for really cheap, and of course 2 stickers for my board :) so i was content... ;)

on our way down, i got queasy and nauseous from riding in DC's Cherokee. i had to stop the motion sickness from making me puke, so we stopped in Squamish for some air...

AND SOME SHOPPING! :b i bought a kick-ass Dakine Snowboard Tour bag for my board at the outlet :D

the queasiness subsided for a bit but came back as we were heading towards West Vancouver. i had to force myself to sleep and closed my eyes so that i wouldn't throw up. :( i've never been sick from riding in a vehicle before in my life. maybe its cause the Cherokee is high above the ground and the shocks are just too mushy... apparently EW's fiancee gets motion sickness when she rode in her friend's Cherokee too...

i was so glad to be home -- i just plopped on my bed and took a nap until dinner, which was HK style congee and plain potato chips.. :)

i have an Edge card so the plan is to go up another 2 or 3 more times before the end of the season (hopefully more!)
