Christmas 2008

I spent my Christmas this year with friends, and I had such a good time! I met some amazing people and we spent the evening eating, drinking wine and apple martinis, opening presents, chatting, and being silly...

I'm paying for it though as I got a bit of a headache today... :P

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

long time no blogging

I'm so not good at keeping a consistent flow of entries here... I've been pretty busy lately what with work, the gym, preparing for my brother's wedding (that's a totally different and long story all together), packing for LA, etc. taking up most of my time.

Its sunday evening and i did nothing all weekend. slept A LOT yesterday -- just trying to get caught up on my rest since I've only been averaging 6 hours a night the past few months. I almost forgot to eat dinner yesterday.

Today, I went for a facial in the morning and then grocery shopping. came home, made oyako-don, and now deciding which movie to watch :) but I guess I should wash dishes first :P

This will be my first christmas holidays in hong kong. I think the last time I spent it without my family was in vancouver -- the same year I was hired at Creo. And before that I have a vague recollection of spending another christmas without my family for 1 of the 3 years I was in japan... tho I could be wrong... it was such a long time ago.

Its a bit strange here -- today was 25C -- quite warm for a december in my books. I was expecting the malls to be jammed pack, with line-ups spilling out of the stores. I didn't see the familiar bustle of shoppers as they go down their list of presents to buy. Instead, the lines were quite small (only about 6-8 people in line), and only at stores touting the "up to 50% signs", which to be honest, could be seen at almost all the stores including Le Sport Sac, Lane Crawford, Mango, Nine West, etc. But with that kind of discount, I was expecting a huge crowd...

It was tempting but i didn't walk in. Really, the best time to buy is when no one is buying... if you know what i mean.

The economic crisis is pretty bad everywhere but I don't think its at its worst. I have a bad feeling its going to get really bad in Q1 2009 and stay that way until at least Q3 or Q4. its a bit scary. I hear of many people losing their jobs or are afraid they will lose their jobs. our MD gave a speech the other day of our goal to "survive" these times. as designers, I think we are very much unaware of what is going on outside the design world. maybe we still have our heads stuck in a cloud :P

Well, I know what I need to do -- SAVE SAVE SAVE. and only buy things that I need. let's see how long that lasts ;)

You'll probably see a bit more blogging from me these next couple of weeks. Keep me company and leave a comment! :)

Happy shopping! ;)
